Best Ever Gold-Topped Brownie Recipe

Today I wanted to share my Best Ever Brownie Recipe, which I love to top with gold leaf for a really luxurious and decadent look. A crunchy top and squidgy middle, these brownies make the perfect accompaniment to your afternoon cup of tea, or served up with ice cream for dessert.

Ingredients:

(makes 8 massive brownies)

  • 225g butter

  • 450g caster sugar

  • 5 free-range eggs

  • 110g plain flour

  • 55g cocoa powder

  • 145g dark chocolate (70% or higher)

  • 2 x Edible Gold Leaf Sheets (for decoration)

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5.

  2. Line a 20x30cm baking tin with baking parchment.

  3. Slowly melt the sugar and butter together in a large pan.

  4. Once melted, take off the heat and mix in the rest of the ingredients (except the gold leaf).

  5. Pour into your baking tin and bake for 30-40 minutes.

  6. Take out of the oven and leave to cool in the tin.

  7. Once cool, adorn with pieces of edible gold leaf for a luxe look.

  8. Finally, cut up into squares and serve.
